10 Family-Friendly Cleveland Day or Weekend Road Trips

If the thought of getting on an airplane is terrifying you right now, we have a great list of places to explore and visit right in our backyard.  Pack up the family and drive to your new favorite destination!!  (**please make sure to research these areas to make sure there are no COVID restrictions and they work for your family)

 

#1 – Castles of Ohio Tour

Missing Game of Thrones and want to feel like the King of NEO?  Check out this cool castle tour

 

#2 – Treehouses in Glenmont

A weekend stay in these cool treehouses is sure to help anyone unplug and fully relax!!  Don’t worry they come equipped with modern amenities, like A/C, indoor bathrooms, and refrigerators!!  A perfect getaway to help you unwind from the last couple of months!

 

#3 – Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon, Ohio

Located near Toledo, Maumee Bay State Park is full of fun things to explore!!  Check out the Trautman Nature Center and the Wetlands, as I’m told there is so much wildlife to see!!

 

#4 – The Village of Granville

A quaint, New England style town about 2 hours from Cleveland!  Check out the Farmer’s Market and cute little shops in town!

 

#5 – Pelee Island (Canada)

Only 3 hours from Cleveland, grab a ferry in Sandusky, and check out an island in Lake Erie!  Located in Canada, Pelee Island is a nature lovers’ dream!!  There is so much to explore and do outside!

 

#6 – Geneva State Park

Relax at the Lake and check out some wonderful wineries!!  Easy enough for a day trip, but if you wanted to spend the weekend, there are a ton of campgrounds in the area and some adorable B&B’s!!

 

#7 – The Rock House at Hocking Hills State Park

I can’t wait to go here!!  This place looks like it’s out of a magazine from the west coast, but it’s right here in Ohio!!  It’s the only cave in the park and the sandstone is amazing!

 

#8 – Brandywine Falls (Cuyahoga National Park)

A 60-foot waterfall!  It is a popular destination, so consider going during off-peak hours!

 

#9 –Presque Isle (Erie, PA)

Another Lake Erie oasis, chill out on the beach, tour the lighthouse or fly a kite, just make sure you stop and have a hot dog at Sara’s!

 

#10 –Gorge Metro Park

Fish, Boat, and Hike along the Cuyahoga River! Check out the dam and caves! So much to do and see in the Summit Metro Parks!
