Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits. Growing up in Lancaster, PA, strawberries were (and still are) everywhere. There are a plethora of families, both Amish and not, with little roadside stands selling fruits and vegetables from their overabundant gardens! I used to love walking down the street and buying them from our neighbors or picking up a quart or two on my way home from school. My mom is a great cook and she always made a delicious dessert with them. And no one ever passed them over! That’s the thing about strawberries, not many people can pass them up!
Strawberries have an array of health benefits. They mainly consist of water and are relatively low in sugar (for a fruit). Strawberries are a great way to get antioxidants and are low in carbohydrates, which makes them perfect if you are following a low carb diet.
While most people eat strawberries raw or in desserts, there are a lot of ways to use them in savory dishes. Salad, salsa, and soup are just a few that I can think of that my family eats all summer long! Below, I’ve listed some new savory recipes that are sure to please every strawberry lover!

This strawberry recipe is gorgeous! Take the top off and you have the perfect bruschetta appetizer for any summer gathering that is both delicious and elegant!
I know, you are going to tell me this is a sweet recipe and you wouldn’t be wrong but hear me out! As someone with a small kitchen, I don’t have space for a dehydrator, so I love this strawberry recipe because the directions are for your oven! I also like to sub local raw honey in for the sugar and only use about 1/8 cup depending on how sweet the berries are! Great for school lunches or snacks anytime and have only 3 ingredients! P.S. add a little dash (about 2 tsp) of fresh rosemary or basil while you are blending and strain before you spread on the pan! You won’t be sorry!
