Memorial Day Recipe Roundup
Happy Memorial Day weekend! It wouldn’t feel like the start of summer without a nice icy cocktail and food on the grill! My family and I will be hosting friends for the day and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than cooking (almost) everything outside!! And dare I say it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day! I plan on preparing every recipe listed below and it’s sure to please everyone! It’s not your typical all-American Memorial Day recipes though. I’m kind of tired of hamburgers and hot dogs at the moment, so I wanted to make something different and fun! And if you are not hosting, but going to a party (lucky you), then don’t go empty handed! Bring one (or more) of these recipes (and you will get invited again and again)!
This is by far my favorite summertime drink. It’s not super sweet and syrupy and just makes for a refreshing drink period! Memorial Day wouldn’t be the same without it!!
For some reason, frozen drinks remind me of college parties and going out with my girlfriends to our favorite restaurant in Boston. This drink is a bit more refined than the bright blue drink I used to love, especially because instead of sugar for the simple syrup, I like to use honey. Depending on the type, it can add another floral note to the drink. Plus, add a blueberry or two for a garnish and it just screams Memorial Day must have!
Can we just admire those grill marks for a while? I mean mine never look like that, but that’s OK, because my kids devour these veggies. Actually, everyone devours them. And if you have any vegan friends coming over, these are great on a crusty baguette with some pesto! There are never any leftovers, so make a double batch because you can use them for SO much (like leftover sandwiches, add them to eggs or add them to soup)!
This is a great cold noodle salad from Feasting at Home. I really like to substitute about a half napa cabbage for half of the noodles here to give it more crunch but also fewer carbs. Plus I like to add avocado and sometimes grilled chicken, but grilled shrimp or beef would also be yummy! You can really make this however you want! Spiralized zucchini would be a dream too! Enjoy!
If you want something festive for Memorial Day, go ahead and add some strawberries and blueberries to the top of this pie, but I’m not sure this recipe needs any adjustments. Just make it. You won’t be sorry!!
