Meet Samantha!  She is a wife, mom and Sports and Orthopedic Physical Therapist, currently working in the clinic 4 days a week!!  She has a daighter, Allie (name changed for privacy) who is 1.5 years old!  This is what  a day in her life looks like when she is not working!!

.

5:30 am– Go for a run or ride bike- Mommy mental wellness time!

.

8 am– Wake up Allie, wrestle with diaper change, eat breakfast while Mommy drinks coffee. Dad wakes up, joins us after letting the Dog out to run around like a mad man in the backyard.

.

9 am– Sing along nursery rhymes, dance around living room with Allie. Dad tries to get some work done in home office. We do a lot of finger paint, coloring, dot markers, play dough. Blow bubbles in a bowl of water and dish soap with a large straw. We love this as bubbles are a hit at this age!

.

..

10 am–We take the dog for a walk and play outside. We usually have a snack around this time. We love peanut butter bars, dried fruit or goldfish. We also love to share our snack with the dog! Allie loves to put things in and out of her bucket or help mom pick up sticks in the yard. She is in the age where she loves to “help”.

.

11:30 am– Lunch Time!  We sit and talk about the color of her foods or play “I spy” out the window next to the table. Dad sometimes will sit with Allie for lunch so I can have a moment to myself. He will face time his parents so she can catch up with Baba and Jeda (Russian Grandma and Grandpa).

.

12 pm– Quiet Play, Watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Our new favorite!)

.

1-3 pm– Allie still takes a good long nap in the afternoons. I usually try to clean up around the house during this time and take some time to sit outside in the sun. I’m a huge advocate for self-care and mental health. I also sneak in my guilty pleasure snacks (lets be honest, toddlers always want what we have so this is my time to eat without little hands reaching for me!) Dad usually walks out and says  “what are you eating ?“  and I say nothing!

.

3 pm– We go back outside for another walk and play in our swing or run around the yard with the dog. We will try to head to a trail that isn’t super busy for a change of scenery. If it’s cold out, we have a ball pit and crawl tunnel and lots of books and puzzles in our basement. Having multiple play areas have been a blessing during the time. She likes to “trust fall” from her reading chair, so that’s fun. I now have a shoulder impingement due to her cirque de soleil moves.

.

5 pm– Dinner Time! Allie likes to stand on her big girl stool at the counter and watch us prepare dinner. She usually gets a spatula and a plastic bowl to play with and “pretend “ to help. We eat dinner as a family as I am always supportive of family meals to help with healthy lifestyles. I am not always able to eat dinner with her during the week when I am still at work so I try when I can. Constant attempts to keep Allie from feeding the dog her dinner and throwing her spoon across the kitchen. Dinner times are FAR from relaxing.

.

6 pm– Bubble (yes, more bubbles) bath then play with Mom and Dad. Insert adult yelling “ water stays in the tub”. After that,  we play in attempts to expel any further energy from her little toddler body. Allie loves “Airplane” and jumping on pillows. The dog anxiously runs around to get involved in the playing so you can imagine our house looks like a disaster area!

.

7:30 pm– Read books to settle down. Currently loving “Penguin says Please” and “Hippo says Excuse Me”. These are board books with bright colors and large print. She can easily turn the pages and point to words and characters. She also loves this ABC book that I can barely tolerate at this point because I have read it so often.

.

8 pm– Allie is down for the night, Dad and I make a drink or have a glass of wine. We have been watching “The Morning Show” on AppleTV, it’s addictive!
