Nonprofit Spotlight – Project Preemie
Project Preemie is one to tug at your heartstrings. It’s the story of beautiful things coming from struggle and hardship, driven by a deep love of parents for their kids. This community of love, hope, and support has been a labor of love dating back several years, to a time when, for The Frascos, it didn’t exist. After spending 75 collective days in the NICU after the birth of both of their sons, they realized there was space missing in the community for parents like them. And so, Project Preemie was born. They built this exceptional organization to create a community that they struggled to find while they were going through the isolating journey of bringing their little babes home from the NICU.
The saying ‘it takes a village’ is quite true here – for the parents who love, struggle, and fight for their babies and the medical staff that cares for them around the clock. The journey to get these babies home is only made possible by this community – the parents and caregivers, the doctors and nurses, however tired or scared or hungry. But this community who fights for these little fighters requires another community – this community of givers. The community that the Frascos created to give back to other parents what they had once wished for.
It’s truly amazing how many avenues there are to contribute to this cause. From blog posts to care packages, to snack drops and support meals, they have created so much space for us to make a difference, however we choose, however big or small. These little babies need their parents and their parents need us. Please visit their website to learn more about their story and more about how you can support the parents of the babies that just want to come home.
