Handmade Gift Wrap

by | Feb 12, 2019 | Crafts

Want an extra special personal touch on your Valentines Day gifts this year?  Want to try a fun activity that makes a heartfelt gift even better? Handmade gift wrap! This is a fun and really simple way to make your gifts even more meaningful!

In Process Art, the setting up is just as important as the doing. Organizing materials in an inviting way helps attract children and ignite ideas. Wire basketsmetal bowls, and lazy susans are perfect for setting up writing materials. Mason jarssilicone muffin linersmuffin tins, and ramekins are perfect for setting up paint. For this particular activity, kraft paper will become your canvas.

Required Supplies

Kraft Paper

Colorations Trays

Tempera Paint

Additional Optional Supplies

Elmer’s Glue (Washable)

Collage Materials

Paint Brushes

Shallow Mason Jars

Note: this concept tends to work better if you pre-wrap your gifts with the craft paper you intend to decorate.  However, as younger children often get over-zealous, you may want to risk decorating the paper, then wrapping the gifts afterward to prevent damaging the gift!

Wrap gifts with Kraft Paper.

Fill a tray with tempera paint and dip your child’s hand in, then stamp it onto your wrapped gift.

Add a label with your child’s name printed or written.

The alternate way …

Cover table with Kraft paper.

Put out bowls of tempera or watercolor paint.

Invite children to cover the paper.

After the paint dries, add Sharpies for drawing. Or use bubble wrap or lids for making prints!

After you wrap gifts, you could add pom poms or other materials with glue to create a fun 3D effect!

There are SO many creative ways to create gift wrap and family and friends will LOVE the extra personal touch.
