Apple & Pumpkin Picking

Ransom Sage’s Farm

Pick your own apples, pumpkins, and then take a wagon ride to the vineyard to pick grapes!!  This Farm is located in Chardon and it’s beyond beautiful, so make sure to bring your camera and take some family pictures, especially at this time of the year!!  If you want more produce to choose from, you can head to their Farm Market located up the street and open daily!

Patterson Fruit Farm

Apple picking? Check!  Pumpkin painting? Check! An enormous pile of hay for kids to play in? Check!  Gorgeous outdoor venue with loads of kid-friendly activities? Check! Patterson Fruit Farm is about 30 minutes from Cleveland in Geauga County & has all of Cleveland’s best fall activities.  While it may look different this year, there is still loads to do at Patterson’s and chances are if you’ve lived in Northeast Ohio for long, you’ve probably been here. One of the coolest things about this particular venue is the barn full-o-hay – there are slides, poles, and giant tire swings that your kids will happily exhaust themselves with, but be prepared to pick hay out of your children’s hair afterward.   When you’re finished with the Farm Activity Area, go pick some apples & check out their farmers market!  Check out their website for more information.

Ridgeview Farm

This farm is a little further out there in Trumbull County (about a 50 minute drive), but it’s well worth the trip.  This lesser-known family-run farm is a true gem. When it comes to Cleveland’s best fall activities, this place has a petting zoo with a large assortment of animals (when we visited, we pet a baby cow, several goats, piglets, and kittens, and we fed an emu) a playground with a sandbox, and SO MANY PUMPKINS!  Older children and daring adults can take a run through their corn maze, which we were told takes approximately 45 minutes to complete, even for the man who created it. They also offer pumpkin painting and have a small farmers market.  The place is called Ridgeview for a reason – the view and the scenery are gorgeous. This is hands down one of the best places to see fall foliage.

Ma & Pa’s

This is another smaller farm venue that offers a few of Cleveland’s best fall activities without the crowds of Patterson.  They have a small recreational area with a swing set for the kids, lawn furniture for the adults, and hammocks for whoever claims them first.  They offer horse-drawn (!) hay rides (reservations required this year to maintain social distancing), pumpkin painting, and other crafts for children. All hay rides include a maple cookie and a glass of cider!  They run from the 3rd weekend in September through October on weekends only, between noon and 4PM.
